HSA and other Regulatory investigations

In recent years, Ireland has seen a huge growth in the economic activities of the private sector, and in tandem with that, a major increase in regulatory activity.  Not only has this meant a visible presence by such bodies as the Health and Safety Authority and the Office of Corporate Enforcement, but there has been a significant increase in the investigative and prosecutorial activities of these bodies.

The implications of adverse investigation by one of these regulatory bodies can hardly be overestimated.  Negative publicity, Court appearances, fines, disqualification as Company Director, and even potential prison sentences are all possible outcomes when an investigation commences, and early legal advice is essential.

Crucial questions as to the assessment of possible liability and exposure need to be examined without delay, and the decision whether to co-operate with any investigation must be arrived at.
